A cultural dialogue spanning a thousand years has taken place in Gaoping, Shanxi Province
On June 22nd, the "Crossing the Sea to Trace the Origin of Silk: Silkworms Born in Ancient Times" Silk Culture Exchange Seminar, hosted by the Yan Emperor Culture Research Association of Gaoping City and the Shanxi Lu Silk Culture Research Association, and organized by the Lu 'anfu Lu Silk Group, was successfully held at the Lu Silk Cultural Park in Gaoping City.
This grand event attracted a large number of experts, scholars, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage and practitioners in the silk industry to jointly discuss the inheritance and development of silk culture.

Lu silk, as a representative of Shanxi silk, has a long history and exquisite craftsmanship. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Lu silk was renowned throughout the land and was a tribute to the imperial family as well as an important commodity traded by Shanxi merchants. The production of Lu silk not only drove the local economic development but also promoted economic and cultural exchanges among regions.
Nowadays, the inheritance and development of Lu silk are confronted with new opportunities and challenges. The holding of the symposium has pointed out the direction for the future of Lu Silk and also provided new ideas and references for the development of the domestic silk industry.

Gao Chunping, an expert in the study of Jin business culture and former vice president of the Shanxi Academy of Social Sciences, and Cheng Yuansheng, an advisor and researcher of Emperor Yan culture, have demonstrated the significant position of Gao Ping in the origin of silk from the perspectives of geographical evolution, historical development and agricultural development.

Professors Su Zelong from Shanxi University, Zhang Baojian from Henan University, and Li Haibo from Northwest University have provided detailed academic support for the development of silk from its origin to Lu silk from aspects such as the origin of the two emperors Yan and Huang and Leizu, the evolution of archaeological characters, and inscriptions on steles.

Professor Lu Jialiang from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University compared the weaving and dyeing techniques of Xijin weaving and Lu silk from a professional perspective, pointing out that they share the same origin in jacquard weaving and layered dyeing. He vividly explained the "big silk" and "small silk" techniques of Lu silk, arguing that Xijin weaving corresponds to the "big silk" technique of Lu silk, while Tang Dynasty brocade is similar to the "small silk" technique, and can be regarded as a "living fossil" of fabrics.

This symposium, which lasted for four hours, is of great significance for promoting the inheritance and innovation of silk culture.
